Pedro Pérez / Spain
Pedro Pérez is a percussionist born in Valladolid who entered the world of music at age 12 through the interpretation of traditional music. His solid musical training began with the maestro José Gutiérrez Yuguero. Later, he studied his snare and drumset technique with Rafa Martín "Pirulo" and Carlos Carli (Professor of the Creative School of Jazz), continuing on in the professional conservatories of Palencia and Valladolid. He has also received Flamenco cajon classes at the International School of Flamenco "Utrera Suena" under Paquito González. He began his professional activity in the pedagogical field in 1999 giving lessons in percussion and drum performance. He has taught in several official music schools in the province of Valladolid and currently teaches at the Municipal Music Schools of Arroyo de la Encomienda and Tudela de Duero. He has collaborated with the Russian State Symphony Orchestra "Voronezh", with the Young Orchestra of the University of Valladolid and also with the traditional music groups Candeal and Tradere. Currently he is a member of the groups: Dúlsica, La Zarabandina and Sal Gorda (Flamenco). He has published the book "Technique and rhythms for snare and bass of traditional music from Castilla y Leon" sponsored by Diputación de Valladolid and the Joaquín Díaz Foundation. He has collaborated in recordings with the groups Tradere, Dúlsica, Asgard Warriors, Lévid Quartet and Sal Gorda and is an endorser of Santafe drums and La Rosa Percussion.
